Land of the Free, Home of Bigotry and the Batshit, Ignorant Insane

The comments and actions of these Tea Party protesters leaves me absolutely speechless. This is the tone and tenure of the American conversation being lead by such intellectual heavy weights as Rush Limbaugh, Glen Beck and of course America’s great right dingbat, Sarah Palin. The future looks mighty dim indeed.

Capitalism Is A Ponzi Scheme and We’re The SUCKERS. Oh And Wolf Blitzer is a Fuckin’ Moron!

Wolf Blitzer is a fuckin’ moron! What self-respecting “journalist” would interview a director about his film without having watched it and use other people’s quotes to form questions? Like I said Wolf’s a fuckin’ moron and the just one cog in the mainstream corporate/capitalist propaganda machine.

BEWARE THE LEADER WHO BANGS THE DRUMS of war in order to whip the citizenry into a patriotic fervor, for patriotism is indeed a double-edged sword. It both emboldens the blood, just as it narrows the mind. And when the drums of war have reached a fever pitch and the blood boils with hate and the mind has closed, the leader will have no need in seizing the rights of the citizenry. Rather, the citizenry, infused with fear and blinded by patriotism, will offer up all of their rights unto the leader and gladly so. How do I know ? For this is what I have done. And I am Caesar.”  – Anonymous

Ontario’s Electric Car Requirements Make Pilot Project Virtually Useless. Who’s NOT Surprised.

leave a comment »

shoveitgreenCBC.ca: It looks as if low-speed electric vehicles will not make it onto Ontario’s roads.

The Ministry of Transportation has finalized its safety rules for a pilot project that would have allowed electric cars on the road, but the companies that make the cars say those regulations are too strict.

Torontonian Aaron Binder was looking forward to the arrival of the electric car. He’s a big believer in electric vehicles – and gets around the city on a Segway. He was encouraged when he heard the province had unveiled a pilot project to allow low-speed electric vehicles on the public streets, “so we could be like B.C., or even Alberta.”

But then came the fine print.

The ministry’s regulations for low-speed electric cars means adding safety features that are not demanded by Ottawa.

The rules in Ontario are even stricter than U.S. and European standards for the same class of vehicle.

Catherine Scrimgeor of Toronto-based ZENN Motors, the maker of an electric vehicle, says for her company it’s the final straw.

“The ZENN [electric car] as it exists right now – the ZENN car that we sell in Quebec and the United States – will not be marketed in Ontario,” she said.

Al Cormier is with Electric Mobility Canada, a group of electric vehicle manufacturers consulted by the province. He says the new rules reflect concerns about the safety when slow electric cars are added to the traffic mix.

“Ontario was trying to address that concern by having additional requirements. But these additions don’t make the project viable for [existing electric cars],” he said.

Cormier says he’ll be surprised if any electric car manufacturer will ever qualify for the province’s low-speed vehicle pilot project.

Electric car fans like Binder say they will have to wait until the full-speed models hit the streets.

bspcommentEnough is enough. Is there any god damn excuse that any level of government hasn’t already pulled out of their ass to try and keep this car from getting a fair shake on the roads of Ontario?

Thanks Dalton for blowing smoke up the asses of Ontario tax payers with your constant green washing about Ontario’s commitment to alternative energy and more importantly electric cars.

Once again ZENN Canada gets kicked in the teeth while Detroit gets BILLION$ on OUR tax dollars to play checkup. Looks rather anti-competitive to me sir!

First, it’s NOT about speed. Of course if you actually drove in some of Ontario’s underfunded cities you’d realize that the only thing going fast is our tax dollars on potholes and broken water mains that your government stopped funding years ago!

Second. It’s not about safety. If safety were truly the issue then why would YOUR GOVERNMENT allow motorcycles and more importantly electric bikes and scooters that go no faster than the ZENN and are a LOT LESS safe.

Funny your government sure doesn’t seem to give a rat’s backside about our safety when you allow massive Hummers and four wheel drive vehicles that have bumper heights at or near the height of average mid-sized cars. But somehow we’re safer when contractors to drive MASSIVE front end loaders and other non-street legal equipment around city streets without a slow moving vehicle sign or license plate!

So why not cut the green washing BS and let Ontarians decide which type of automobile they would like to drive and invest in.

Enough is enough. Let me drive a ZENN in Ontario.

This is absolutely criminal. Here is a provincial government that has poured BILLION$ of our tax dollars into those dinosaurs from Detroit yet we’re supposed to believe that they are going to give small companies like ZENN a fair shake at Ontario’s car market. BULLSHIT!

McGuinty Thinks Mores Taxes Are A Good Idea In Hard Times!

leave a comment »

Elxn Ont Liberals 20071010CBC.ca: Ontario plans a major tax reform that will combine both the provincial and federal sales tax on products and services. The combined tax of five per cent GST and eight per cent Ontario sales tax won’t change the price on most items. But many items that used to be exempt from sales tax will no longer be so.

PST Now Applied to Gas, Home Heating and Electricity

Consumers are most likely to notice an increase in the price of gasoline and heating fuels. Electricity will no longer be exempt from provincial sales tax, nor will tobacco, personal services like haircuts, membership fees for clubs and gyms, newspapers and magazines, taxi fares and the professional services of lawyers, architects and accountants. Real estate commissions will also be taxed.

bspcomment Politicians like McGuinty never cease to amaze me with their complete lack of compassion and gall. Politicians, McGuinty included are all but breathless when it comes to how fast they (government) should move to save stalled economies by pouring BILLION$ of our tax dollars into failed companies and business models. Yet he has the fuckin’ nerve to INCREASE MY PERSONAL TAXES!

Sorry but this is getting out of hand and we need a real revolution to wake these assholes up. What the fuck is this idiot thinking by raising taxes on working families in Ontario while WE ALL are struggling with the financial crisis that regulators like McGuinty helped create!

Remember that bullshit he spewed a few years ago when he introduced the Helath Tax after running on a platform of no taxes? Well Ontarians have been paying a lot more for their health care since the tax and the only thing that seems to be getting shorter is the amount of available doctors while the wait times for treatment and completion of community hospitals continues to grow!

Tough Times Bring Tears From the Clowns

leave a comment »

tearsofaclownThe Toronto Star: The recession is no laughing matter.

A bid by Geri Hall of This Hour Has 22 Minutes to lampoon Premier Dalton McGuinty’s new rule that reporters must stay five feet away from him fell flat amid economic doom and gloom.

After a few minutes of awkwardness, a furious New Democrat MPP Peter Kormos (Welland), who was monitoring the scrum, improbably rescued McGuinty.

“Two thousand workers just lost their jobs and they’re trying to hold the premier accountable. Get the hell out of here!” shouted Kormos.

Hall, who gained access to the media scrum with accreditation from the Queen’s Park Press Gallery, ambushed the premier yesterday while he was sombrely discussing the devastating job cuts at Stelco in Hamilton and Nanticoke.

bspcomment You know it’s really funny how that during the “good” and “normal” times politicans never seem to mind lightening up things, especailly when they want to make a point.

Trust me, I have attended Queen’s Park in Ontario and the House of Commons in Ottawa and believe me there is no shortage of coloured comments, dry humour and down right mayhem during question periods.

But now that a CBC show that specializes in political satire manages to get the Premier of Ontario in a rather awkward situation, everyone including the opposite members and press corpe suddenly raise their collective voices in indignation  of the dispicable act of one single political humorist.

Now that the stark reality of the economic fiasco that politicians like Dalton McGuinty have presided over for the last several months are starting to come crashing down on the rose coloured glasses of our credit card powered, shop-til-you-drop citizenry, all of a sudden theirs now room for satire or humour. Nope, the boys and girls who’s actions or lack of action continues to contribute to the current economic crisis are all too serious and stern faced about thess very dark times.

BULLSHIT! There isn’t a politician on this planet that understands the current crisis and they all continue to flail their stubby little, pork-barrel arms around hoping no one notices that they don’t have a fiddlers, fuckin’ clue what’s going on or how to fix it. Truth is every single tax paying Canadian should be up in arms about the total lack of leadership that all levels of government continue to demonstrate.

See, the plain and simple truth is, these politicians only really care about the votes that these jobs may add up to. No? Don’t think so? So where is their indignation and call for quick action on labour laws, the right to organization, worker safety, minimum wage, working conditions, the working poor, poverty hell you name it. Working class and working poor Canadians have been feeling this complete absence of leadership for decades while large U.S. retailers were allowed to setup shop in Canada, bringing their lower standard of living and disdain for workers with them.

Did politicians scream bloody murder when:

  • Wal-Mart closes stores that finally manage to gain union representation? NO.
  • Municipal and City infrastructures began to be ignored because of increased downloading costs? NO.
  • Students struggle under the increasing weight of tution and education costs? NO
  • Banks and credit card companies began charging insane amounts of service charges for Canadians to access their money? NO.
  • Canadians wait hours for basic medical attention and years for surgeries
  • Telcoms began limiting access to the Internet and degrade the user services to ensure their services worked better? NO.
  • Too many more to mention…

So please, enough with this faux outrage for workers and their families. You lazy assholes have had decades to make a real difference in working peoples lives and have chosen to play politics instead. SO SIT DOWN AND SHUT THE FUCK UP OR GET OFF YOUR FAT, LAZY, OVERPAID ASSES AND DO SOMETHING WITH MAKE A REAL DIFFERENCE IN PEOPLES’ LIVES!

Time to Pull the Plug On GM! Burns $6.2 BILLION in 3 Months.

leave a comment »

gmchrsylerdrainMyNews: General Motors Corp. posted a $9.6 billion fourth-quarter loss and said it burned through $6.2 billion of cash in the last three months of 2008 as it fought the worst U.S. auto sales climate since 1982 and sought government loans to keep the century-old company running.

The nation’s biggest domestic automaker said Thursday it lost $30.9 billion for the full year and expects an opinion from its auditors as to whether the company remains a “going concern” when its annual report is issued in March. That means the auditors will determine whether there is substantial doubt about the automaker’s ability to continue operations.

Chief Financial Officer Ray Young said the determination will depend a lot on whether GM gets further government loans and whether it can accomplish its restructuring goals.

bspcommentENOUGH! Let them fail. It is obvious to anyone who breathes air that GM like Chrysler is incapable of making the necessary changes in their business practises and management to affect the turn around required to save jobs. It’s time for the U.S. government to FORCE GM into Chapter 13 reorganization. End the BULLSHIT Now!
